Frequently Asked
Questions |
- I am allergic to animals can I have a
cesky ?
- That depends on the severness of the allergy. Because a Cesky
does not loose its hair he is better tollerated than other breeds
that do loose their coat. The best way to see is too visit a
breeder that has several dogs and see if you have any problems.
- We have a cat and a rabbit, can we have
a Cesky Terrier since this is a hunting dog ?
- Yes, you can ! The cesky is a hunting dog but only
if you stimmulate him doing so. If you do have other animals
you have to learn him to be gentle with them, especially with
vulnerable animals like rabbits.
- Where can I find a puppy and are they
expensive ?
- The best way to buy a Cesky is from a breeder that breeds
only cesky terriers and not from a puppymill breeder that sell
dozens of different breeds. Before you decide to buy one go visit
some breeders and see how their dogs live. The cesky is not very
suitable for living in a kennel so look for a breeder where the
dogs live in the house freely, this means not in crates or separate
rooms. This way you have the best chance on getting a puppy that
is properly socialiced and used to all the daily noises. You
may have to wait a little for a puppy from such breeder but remember
that it is a familymember that you have to live with for at least
the next 10 years. A healthy and well socialised puppy will make
up for the time you have to wait.

- The cesky is not more expensive than andy other 'normal'
breed. The prices may range from country and area, but will mainly
depent on the quality of the puppy and the quality of the parents.
You can expect to pay more for a puppy of which the parents have
won numerous awards than for a puppy of which the parents have
never been to shows. The quality of the puppy is difficult to
see at the age of which most puppies go to their new homes, which
is usually around 9 weeks. A puppy that shows already one or
more faults is ofcourse less expensive than one that shows no
faults. Remember that not all faults can be seen at such young
age, so don't be mad at the breeder of your dog if it doesn't
turn out to be "the big winner all times". If you are
looking for such dog than you have to look for a 2 year old one.
Don't trust any breeder that says "that puppy is going to
be a topwinner", he surely would have kept that "winner"
himself !

- We want a mediumgrey cesky, but we only
see "black" puppies.
- All cesky terriers are born black ! When they get older they
get their final color. This lightning up can take up to 4 years
(olthought this is rare). A 9 week old puppy that has had his
first trimm and is already medium or lightgrey is likely to become
lightgrey. A 9 week old puppy that is darkgrey till mediumgrey
is likely to get a mediumgrey color when grown up. A 9 week old
puppy that is still fully black is likely to get a color that
range from darkgrey till mediumgrey. Remember that these are
predictions and happy and unhappy surprises regarding colors
have occured in this breed !
